Senate okays Russia trade bill with human rights jab

WASHINGTON | Thu Dec 6, 2012 1:21pm EST

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - The Senate on Thursday voted nearly unanimously to punish Russian human rights violators as part of a broader bill to expand trade with the former Cold War enemy.

The bill goes to President Barack Obama, who is expected to sign it into law, despite Moscow's warning that the jab on human rights would harm relations.
