Obama says U.S. is reassessing relationship with Russia
Aug 9th 2013, 20:15

WASHINGTON | Fri Aug 9, 2013 3:55pm EDT

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - President Barack Obama said on Friday that the United States has always had tension with Russia and it is an appropriate juncture to reassess where the two nations stand after Russia has taken a series of actions that contradict U.S. interests.

"Frankly, on a whole range of issues where we think we can make some progress Russia has not moved," Obama said at a news conference in the White House.

Obama said that he does not have a "bad personal relationship" with Russian President Vladimir Putin. Obama recently canceled a Moscow visit the leader around the time of the Group of 20 summit in St. Petersburg this fall. Obama will attend the G-20 meeting.
