MOSCOW | Wed Aug 7, 2013 11:01am EDT

MOSCOW (Reuters) - President Barack Obama's decision to cancel a meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin is disappointing, a top Kremlin foreign policy aide said on Wednesday.

Speaking with reporters in a phone conference, Putin's foreign policy aide Yuri Ushakov said the move was caused by a dispute between the two countries over ex-U.S. spy agency contractor Edward Snowden, to whom Russia granted temporary asylum last week.

He added Russia's invitation for Obama to visit Russia was still in force.
